Cricketer Rishabh Pant has asked Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for help finding suitable land to build a home in the state. Pant said he wanted to shift his base from Delhi and return closer to the people and landscape he considers his own.
In a late-night post, Pant said he had been trying for around three years to find a large, habitable plot. He said he was willing to purchase land at government-determined rates, while also describing a government gift as an honour for representing the state internationally.
Dhami responded by calling Pant a pride of Uttarakhand and saying officials had been directed to contact him and provide assistance according to the rules. The response does not itself guarantee land allocation; any transaction or permission will have to follow the applicable process.
The episode also drew social-media attention because of spelling and grammar errors in Pant’s post. The more substantive issue is his stated desire to build a long-term connection with the state. On the sporting front, he is expected to return for India’s upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka after missing recent white-ball assignments.
