Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has crossed $800 million worldwide, maintaining a strong run even after Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened and took screens in several markets.
The film had already earned more than $500 million in its first week. By the time the Spider-Man release arrived, its worldwide total had moved beyond $800 million. The newer film’s opening affected the third weekend: The Odyssey made about $51 million in North America, down from roughly $90 million the previous weekend.
Internationally, the competition also reduced the number of available screens. The film nevertheless retained a strong position in IMAX, helping it hold its audience.
The story adapts Homer’s Greek poem about Odysseus and his difficult journey home. Its cast includes Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron and Travis Scott. The film’s performance shows how premium formats and a recognisable filmmaker can preserve momentum even when a major franchise arrives soon after.
